Last week I worked on developing my character Harley Tenner. The end result definitely proved to create the artistic, closed off person I was looking for. However, Harley isn't the only personality I need in order to move forward in writing my play. After developing Harley as my female lead, I proceeded to create a companion character for her.
Fletcher Oakes is a quirky, disheveled teenager with an addictive personality. After his parents discovered his addiction, Fletcher was sent to boarding school. He is however, not your everyday bad boy. In reality, he is just an astronomy nerd with a smoking problem and overwhelmed parental units. Due to fletchers seperation from all previous relationships his obsessions have only increased, and even leaked into the actions of his day to day life.
Fletcher spends almost all of his time absorbing stories from constellation mythology, studying star charts, and reading horror novels. He has even gone so far as to name his telescope. Fletch has always had a hard time fitting in, and conforming to socially acceptable attitudes. He often finds himself connecting situations to the many stories he has commit to memory. Because of this, he tends to detatch himself from personal situations.
Moving forward I will begin to write about both Harley, and Fletcher, and how they interact. As well as discover the conflict between the two of them.
